Approach roads and standing space vary across the area, and around the station in particular. Some addresses take a full-size vehicle to the entrance without difficulty. Others mean a longer carry from wherever the vehicle can legally and safely stand, or a smaller vehicle making more than one trip.

None of that is a problem when it is known. All of it is a problem when it is discovered on the morning, because that is the point at which a price gets revised and a schedule slips. The things that genuinely decide it:

• Volume. Household moving is priced on the space goods occupy, not their weight. Decluttering before the survey reduces the number directly.
• Access at both ends. Floors, lift availability, staircase turns, parking distance. In Diva this is often the deciding factor.
• Packing scope. Everything packed, fragile items only, or labour with your own materials.
• Dismantling and reassembly, agreed in advance rather than assumed.
• Heavy or awkward items needing more crew or a crate.
• Date, since month ends and weekends are busier.
• Distance, which matters little along the corridor and a great deal once the move leaves the region.
