Common questions people have before booking vehicle transport

Can I leave belongings in the car?

No. The vehicle should travel empty. Anything loose can move in transit and mark the interior, and items of value are better with you than in a boot you cannot reach for several days.

Does the odometer reading change?

A vehicle carried on a carrier is not driven between pickup and delivery beyond loading and unloading, so the reading should be effectively unchanged. It is worth noting it yourself at handover alongside the condition check.

What if the vehicle does not start?

Tell us at the enquiry. A non-running vehicle can usually still be loaded, but it changes how it goes onto the deck and needs planning rather than discovery on the day.

Can a bike and a car travel together?

Yes, subject to deck space on your dates. Mention both at the enquiry so the booking reflects it.

Who hands the vehicle over at the other end?

Somebody you nominate, with identification and the vehicle papers. If that person is not you, tell us their name and number when you book.

How a vehicle actually travels

Cars and two-wheelers do not move like household goods, and the difference is worth understanding before you compare quotes.

A vehicle travels inside an enclosed carrier, driven up a ramp and positioned on a deck. Once in place it is chocked and restrained at the wheels rather than strapped over the body, because load applied to panels and suspension over hundreds of kilometres is what causes damage. Multi-deck carriers take vehicles on upper and lower levels, which is why a car is sometimes loaded above another.

Cars and two-wheelers are secured differently

A car is restrained through its wheels. A two-wheeler is stood, braced and strapped at the frame points that can take load, never at the fairings or mirrors. They are not interchangeable techniques, and a mover who treats them the same will mark your bike.

Condition is recorded at both ends

A condition check is made at pickup and repeated at delivery, so existing marks are noted before the journey rather than argued about after it. That protects both of us.

Preparing your vehicle for handover

None of this is difficult, and all of it prevents problems.

  1. Empty the vehicle. Documents, electronics, spare keys, chargers and anything of value travel with you, not in the boot.
  2. Leave only a small amount of fuel. A nearly empty tank is lighter and safer. We will confirm what suits your vehicle when you book.
  3. Note existing damage. Photograph it yourself as well. It makes the condition check quick and uncontroversial.
  4. Disable or note any alarm that could drain the battery in transit.
  5. Fold mirrors and remove loose accessories such as toppers, aerial extensions or mud flaps that catch on a carrier deck.
  6. Keep your registration papers and identification available for handover at the far end.

What we do not do

We do not service, repair, clean or fuel vehicles, and we do not handle RTO or registration work. If any of that is needed, arrange it separately before or after the move.

Moving a vehicle with your household goods

A large share of vehicle enquiries come alongside a home move, and raising it early genuinely changes the plan.

Worth telling usAt the enquiry stageAt the enquiry stage

Mentioning a vehicle late is one of the more common things that reshuffles a booking, and one of the easiest to accommodate when raised early. If your household goods are moving too, see house shifting and domestic and intercity relocation.

What to expect on the day

  • Pickup. The vehicle is inspected, its condition noted, and it is driven or pushed onto the carrier deck.
  • Securing. Wheels are chocked and restrained. Nothing is tightened over bodywork.
  • Transit. The vehicle stays enclosed for the journey.
  • Delivery. Condition is checked again against the pickup record, then the vehicle is handed over with its papers.

For longer routes, delivery is given as a window rather than a fixed hour, for the same reason it is on household moves: a confident-sounding time you cannot hold is worth less than a realistic one you can plan around.

Our work

Car and Bike Transportation in progress

Photographs from jobs our own crews have carried out. There is no stock photography on this website.

  • Car secured on the lower deck of an enclosed vehicle carrier
  • SUV loaded and strapped inside an enclosed car carrier
  • Vehicle positioned inside a transport carrier ready for dispatch
  • Two cars loaded on the upper and lower decks of a double-deck carrier
  • Car being driven up a ramp into an enclosed transport container
  • Car standing inside the interior of a vehicle transport carrier

Who this suits

  • Cars and two-wheelers moving with a household relocation
  • Vehicle-only transport to another city or state
  • Moves where driving the vehicle yourself is impractical

What affects the cost

We do not publish a fixed price, because the same job costs different amounts depending on the details below. Looking at the job first is what turns a guess into a figure that holds.

  • Distance and route between pickup and delivery
  • Whether it is a car or a two-wheeler, and its size
  • How many vehicles are travelling
  • Whether the vehicle moves alongside a household load or on its own
  • Deck position and carrier availability on your dates
  • Pickup and delivery access at both ends
  • The date, since month-end is in higher demand

What to tell us for a quote

Have these ready and we can usually give you a realistic figure without a second call.

  1. Make and model of the vehicle, and whether it is a car or two-wheeler
  2. Pickup and delivery addresses
  3. Whether household goods are moving on the same job
  4. Your preferred pickup date and how firm the delivery needs to be
  5. Whether the vehicle is currently driveable
  6. Any existing damage you want recorded before pickup

Car and Bike Transportation: common questions

How is a car secured inside the carrier?

It is chocked and restrained at the wheels rather than strapped over the bodywork, because load applied to panels and suspension over a long journey is what causes damage.

Is a two-wheeler handled differently from a car?

Yes. A two-wheeler is stood, braced and strapped at frame points that can take load, never at the fairings or mirrors. They are not interchangeable techniques.

Do you handle RTO or registration work?

No. We transport the vehicle and hand it over. Servicing, repair, cleaning, fuel and any registration or RTO work are not part of the service.

When should I mention that a vehicle is moving with my household goods?

At the enquiry stage. It changes how the job is planned rather than simply adding a line to the quote, and it is far easier to accommodate early.

Should I leave fuel in the vehicle?

Only a small amount. We tell you exactly how much when you book, along with anything that should be removed from inside the vehicle beforehand.

Are cars and bikes handled the same way?

No. Loading, securing and positioning differ between a car and a two-wheeler, and we handle each accordingly.

What documents do I need?

Bring the vehicle registration and your ID. We confirm what is needed for your specific route when you book.
