Distance genuinely counts on this route in a way it does not on a local shift, because the vehicle is committed for the day and the return leg is real cost.

Two things are within your control. Volume, since household moving is priced on the space goods occupy and every carton travels the full distance. And date flexibility, because a fixed date at a month end is the most expensive combination.
