Fragile and high-value household items
There is a real line between an item that needs careful packing and an item that needs a case built around it, and knowing which side something falls on is most of the job.
Wrapping is enough for most things: crockery, glassware, lamps, small electronics, framed photographs. These are wrapped individually, packed so nothing can shift inside the carton, and kept away from weight.
A rigid case is needed when an item is large, flat and brittle, or when its value makes the risk unacceptable. A glass dining table top, a full-length mirror, a marble or stone surface, a large framed piece, or a television beyond a certain size all fall here. Flat glass fails from flex rather than impact: carried flat by two people it bows in the middle, and that is where it cracks. So it travels upright on edge, faced with rigid board, and where the item warrants it we build a timber crate around it on site. That is a job with tools and materials rather than something improvised on the morning, which is exactly why it is decided at the survey.
Some things should not go on the vehicle at all. Jewellery, documents, small high-value items and anything genuinely irreplaceable are better kept with you. Their volume is trivial and their value is not recoverable.
What Soni Packers and Movers asks at the survey is simple: show us the items you would be most upset to lose. That question gets a more useful answer than any inventory form, and it is what determines the materials, the crew and the loading order.
Our crating capability is covered under warehouse shifting, storage and heavy item moving, and the technique for domestic breakables is set out in how to pack fragile items.
House shifting in Juhu and loading order
On a move with genuinely fragile contents, the loading sequence protects the packing rather than the other way round.
Heavy, flat and sturdy items go in first and low: appliances, sealed furniture, book cartons. Fragile cartons go high and last, never with weight above them. Crated and boarded items stand upright against a flat face of the load and are secured so they cannot slide. Gaps are filled with soft goods, because an unfilled space is exactly where something moves. Good packing can still be undone by a crew fitting one more thing on top of a fragile carton because there was room; that space is doing a job.
The rest is our standard method. Room-by-room packing with our own materials, cartons labelled for the room they are going to at the new address rather than the one they came from, and wardrobes, beds and modular units dismantled where a doorway or lift will not take them, with the fittings bagged and kept with the piece. Reassembly is part of an agreed scope rather than assumed, so confirm it while taking the quote.
Before quoting we establish the floor at each end, whether a working lift is available and whether household goods are permitted in it, whether that lift will take a large item, and how close a vehicle can stand and for how long. Full scope is on the house shifting page, and packing, loading and unloading can be booked on its own. Office and shop moves add sequencing so what you need working first comes off first: see office relocation.
Choosing a mover, and what it costs
When a move includes items you cannot replace, the checks matter more than usual.
Worth establishing before you book anybody: will they come and look at the items rather than quote from a room count; what do they propose for each fragile piece specifically, and does the answer distinguish between wrapping and a rigid case; is the written scope explicit about packing, dismantling, reassembly and unloading; and what is the process if something is damaged. Treat any promise that nothing ever breaks with the same suspicion as any other absolute. What you want is a clear account of how items are protected and what happens if something goes wrong, not a guarantee.
Soni Packers and Movers assesses fragile and high-value items individually at survey, packed separately from general household goods, and crated where wrapping will not do. The wider set of checks is in how to choose a mover.
On price, the figure comes from the volume, the access at both ends, the packing scope, how many items need individual handling or crating, any dismantling and reassembly, and the date. Crating adds materials and time and is priced as its own line rather than absorbed silently. The general explanation is in what actually affects the cost of a move.
Moves within the area to Vile Parle West or across the wider Mumbai area are routine, and moves out to Thane or the Kalyan and Dombivli belt add driving time so the start time is agreed with the date. Longer relocations are covered under domestic and intercity relocation, and vehicles travel separately under car and bike transportation.
Send both addresses, a rough inventory naming anything fragile or high-value, the floors and lift position and your date through the contact page, or browse areas we serve.
