Moving out of a rented flat without losing the deposit
Damage on a moving day is rarely dramatic. It is a scraped door frame, a gouged skirting board, a scuffed wall at shoulder height on a staircase, a floor marked by something dragged rather than lifted. All of it happens in the last hour, and all of it is avoidable.
What Soni Packers and Movers does about it:
Protect the route before anything moves. Door frames on the path out, and the lift interior where the building allows it, are the two places that take the damage. Covering them costs minutes.
Dismantle rather than force. Most marks on a door frame come from a piece of furniture that should have come apart and did not. If a wardrobe or bed will not clear the opening, it comes apart, with the fittings bagged and kept with the piece.
Lift, do not drag. Obvious, and the first thing to go when a crew is rushing to finish. It is a reason not to compress a move into a window that is too short for it.
What you should do, separately from us:
Photograph the empty flat once everything is out and before you hand back the keys. Every room, the floors, the walls, the fittings. It takes ten minutes and it is the single most useful thing you can hold if a deduction is proposed later.
Check your own agreement for what is expected on handover, such as cleaning, repainting or fittings that must remain. Requirements vary between agreements and landlords, so confirm yours rather than assuming a general rule applies.
Leave time between the move and the inspection if you can. Doing both in the same hour is how things get missed.
Full household scope is on the house shifting page.
Sequencing a move with a handover at the end
An end-of-tenancy move has a hard stop that an ordinary move does not, and it changes the plan.
Residential relocation of this kind has an order that works: load in the usual sequence, then do the empty-room walk with every cupboard open, then photograph, then hand over. Lofts, balconies, the meter cupboard and the backs of built-in wardrobes are where things get left, and going back for them after keys are returned is awkward at best.
If the new flat is available the same day, that is a straightforward single day. If it is not, goods can be held rather than double-handled into temporary space: see warehouse shifting and storage. Ask about that when booking rather than when the gap appears.
The access questions are the usual ones and they decide the length of the day: the floor at each end, whether a working lift is available and whether household goods are permitted in it, and how close a vehicle can stand and for how long. Where the building sets a narrow window for shifting work, we send more crew to finish inside it rather than running long, because running long is exactly when the careless damage happens.
If you have fragile or high-value items, the handling for those is covered in more detail on the Juhu page, and packing technique for breakables is in how to pack fragile items. Booking only the packing or only the heavy work is normal through packing, loading and unloading.
Where these moves run, and what they cost
Short moves within Bandra West or across to Juhu, Santacruz East or Vile Parle West keep the same crew at both ends. Moves across the wider Mumbai area are routine, and moves out to Thane or the Kalyan and Dombivli belt add real driving time so the start time is agreed with the date.
Relocation to another city is a different service with packing built for the road from the outset: see domestic and intercity relocation. Cars and two wheelers travel separately under car and bike transportation.
On price, the figure comes from the volume, the floor and lift position at both addresses, how close a vehicle can stand and for how long, the packing scope, any dismantling and reassembly, whether protection is needed on the route out, the distance, and the date. Household shifting is priced on the space goods occupy rather than their weight.
On choosing between movers for a tenancy move specifically, ask what they do to protect the property you are leaving. It is a question Soni Packers and Movers expects, because it is the part of the job a departing tenant is actually judged on. A mover who has never been asked that will tell you so in their answer. The wider set of checks is in how to choose a mover, and pricing factors in what actually affects the cost of a move. Send both addresses, the floors and lift position, a rough inventory, your handover date and your date through the contact page, or browse areas we serve.
