What separates this from a shorter intercity run is that the load is on the road across more than one day. Two consequences follow, and both are decided before the vehicle leaves.

What travels with you rather than on the vehicle. On a local move this is a short list. Here it is a real plan, because you will be living without the load for longer than a night. Documents, identification, jewellery, medicines, chargers, a change of clothes for each person, basic toiletries, and bedding for the first night if you cannot be certain the beds will be reassembled the day the goods land. None of that should be in the load, and the volume it takes up is trivial.

Inventory discipline. A forgotten item on a local move is a return trip. On a Nagpur move it is a genuine problem. We number cartons and record what is in each, which takes a few minutes and means you can check what arrived against what left while the crew is still there rather than discovering a gap a week later.

Packing for this distance is built for the road from the outset rather than upgraded halfway, and the loading order matters more than on any shorter job.

Packing. Every void inside a carton is filled so nothing can move, because a carton packed loosely enough to shift will shift for hundreds of kilometres. Furniture edges are wrapped that would survive a short move untouched. Crockery is bundled and stood on edge rather than stacked flat. Glassware is packed upright with paper inside supporting the walls. Anything that wrapping alone will not protect gets a timber crate built around it on site. Loading. Heavy, flat, sturdy items go in first and low: appliances, sealed furniture, book cartons. Fragile cartons go high and last, never with weight on top of them. Mirrors, glass tops and screens stand on edge against a flat face of the load and are secured so they cannot slide. Gaps between items are filled with soft goods, because an unfilled gap is exactly where things move over a long journey.

Appliances. A refrigerator is defrosted and dried well in advance, since a fridge with water in it will smell by the time it arrives. A washing machine drum needs securing for transit. Both are worth asking any mover about directly.

Wardrobes, beds and modular units are dismantled where they will not clear a doorway, with the fittings bagged and kept with the piece. We can survey your current address. We will not have seen the Nagpur one, so it is established by asking rather than assumed.

What to find out, ideally from whoever is handing over the property: which floor, whether there is a lift and whether household goods are permitted in it, whether that lift will take a mattress or a large refrigerator, how close a vehicle can stand, and what hours the building allows shifting work. Get those before the vehicle leaves and the unloading is planned instead of improvised after a long drive.

Because the transit runs across days, agree in advance who will be present to receive, and make sure that person has the numbered inventory and can decide where things go. If it will not be you, say so at the booking stage rather than the day before.

A car or two wheeler travels on an enclosed carrier separately from the household goods, which on a route this length is usually the sensible arrangement: see car and bike transportation. Where your dates do not meet, goods can be held rather than sitting loaded, under warehouse shifting and storage.

What sets it: the volume of goods, the distance and route, the access at both ends including the one nobody has surveyed, the packing scope, any dismantling and reassembly, unusually heavy or awkward items, whether a vehicle is moving too, and any storage between dates.

On a haul this long, volume is the lever that matters most. Household moving is priced on the space goods occupy rather than their weight, and on this route every carton is paid to travel the whole way. Anything disposed of, sold or given away before the survey is space you do not pay for, and the saving is larger here than on any shorter move.

Date flexibility is the second lever. A fixed date at a month end is the most expensive combination.
